Pilates focuses on strengthening the core muscles. It comprises of a series of mat based exercises aimed at stregthen the lower back, tummy, hips, and spine. This can help correct posture, alleviate spinal pain and reduce risk of injury.
All classes are taught by Chartered Physiotherapists who have chosen to undertake post-graduate training in Pilates giving our classes a distinctive edge.
If you have a specific weakness, goal or are recovering from surgery then you will be shown the exact modification of each exercise to suit your need and with a maximum of 10 people per class, technique is constantly analysed and exercises progressed as ability changes.
For those who are new to Pilates, you are welcome to join our regular classes but may want to take advantage of our beginners class’s to build your confidence first. We also offer one-to-one Pilates classes and we highly recommend new starters do this first, although it is not compulsory.
Ante and Post Natal Pilates – NEW
During pregnancy, your body is going through a lot of changes and you might experience back pain, pelvic pain, heart burn, incontinence, swollen feet and ankles and shoulder stiffness. Pilates can help you adapt to those changes, prepare you for labour and for being a strong and healthy mum.
In January 2014, we are launching a new Antenatal Pilates class, which will be taught by Catherine, who is a physiotherapist, Pilates instructor and has specialist skills in supporting clients during pregnancy. We have limited spaces to 6 people per class and these will run every Monday lunch time from 12.30pm to 1.15pm at our Camden clinic. Dropin prices are £17 per class or you can buy a block of 6 classes for £90.
